Amazing Animal Senses

Name: Alexus Date: 01/05/2019 Text: Amazing Animal Senses Many animals’ senses are much, much better than ours. Dogs can smell things that we can’t smell, that’s why they’re used in airports to sniff out things like drugs. They’re also used to find people who are missing. They can do this because each person’s skin has its own special smell that is different from everyone else’s. Dogs can smell these special smells on the tiny bits of skin that fall off our bodies all the time. Unlike us, sharks can sense the electricity in the bodies of fish. They can even do this when the fish are a long way away, or hiding under the sand. (Metal boats can also make electricity when they come in contact with the salt in seawater. So sharks sometimes get confused, and attack them!) And raptors, such as eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls, have eyesight that is about eight times better than the sharpest human eye. This is because they have to be able to see the small, fast-moving prey they hunt from way up in the air.
